Water in Skimmer

We have had a lot of rain lately and the PB closed the closed a couple of weeks ago.

Went out to setup a new pump we bought to drain water off of the cover. Bought this pump - http://www.amazon.com/Rule-A53S-24-Subm ... B000O8B6Q0

The question I have is that the PB put in foam in the skimmer. I just checked and there is quite a bit of water already in there from rain. Should I take the water out or just let it be?

From what I understand, as long as there is something, such as foam in the skimmer that will crush under the pressure from the ice you should be ok.
