Filter is not backed up. I know because everything functions as normal with the skimmer closed and bottom drain open. When the skimmer is open, no water is flowing through and all I get is air bubbles, so it appears something is stuck in there. How do I unclog it? Thanks.
No suction from skimmer...

You have a suction side air leak. Some common causes of that are pool water level too low or a leak in one of the connections.
I would check the water level (pump running, visually inspect the skimmer) in the pool first.
