Clueless on FC test

I have a new SPA (400 gal) and am trying to get "good water"

So I got a test kit. From Leslie's it seems to be a rebranded K-2005 and so had no tests for bromine or borate
I got some borate strips (nearly useless)
and a "FAS/DPD Chlorine & CC's test"

The Chlorine kit says for"
10ml test multiply drops by 0.5
25ml test multiply drops by 2

but the results are not aligned with the K-2005.
In fact they don't seem to be aligned with itself.

So I took some water in a 500ml cyl and created a 10ml and a 25ml sample from that single draw of water. (same water)
I added the R0870 powder to each
and dropped both until clear
7 drops for the 10 and 16 drops for the 25

7 * 0.5 = 3.5
16 * 2 = 32

Some discrepancy here. I suspected typo
7 * 2 = 14
16 * 0.5 = 8

Not helping here
I used the other agent to do the CC and the 10ml sample changed with 1 drop the 25ml took 3 drops

?????

Your 25ml sample should be multiplied by .2 instead of 2 That will give you a result of 3.2 which is in the ballpark with the 3.5 result from the 10ml sample. The 25ml sample is more accurate, but a 10ml is close enough for pool care purposes and will save reagent in the long run.

Again for the CC test use .5 as the multiplier for the 10ml sample and .2 for the 25ml sample and you get .5 and .6 respectively. Close enough for horseshoes!
