Calling all Aqua Genie Owners

Hello all

First time pool owner - so be gentle

With Fall/Winter here I am looking at closing the pool

I have read the section on pool closing and understand the basics of chemicals/antifreeze and such. I understand I should blow out the lines from the filter to the pool. The question I have is - I have an Aqua Genie and I understand I would lower the water level to below the return to allow for proper blow out of the return line. Do I need to get the winter cover/door Aqua Genie sells? I seem to be getting conflicting information - I know the Aqua Genie needs to have the water below the unit, but I also hear I should try and keep the pool water as high as possible? ( I have a Buster Crabbe pool - vinyl with wood walls)

Any pointers or advice would be much appreciated.

Where abouts are you located?

If in the south I would say you do not need the cover.

If in a colder climate you may very well need it.

Aqua Genies can develop cracks inside the return box that are very difficult to find.
