Closing AG pool in S.Cali for the first time

Unless you are on a mountain ... I do not think there is any reason to "close" a pool in So Cal. Do you get and stay below freezing?

Likely all you need to do is cut your pump run time back and continue to maintain adequate FC in the water and it should stay clear all winter. The FC consumption will be greatly reduced from the summer, so it is not too difficult to maintain.

If the temp is going to drop below freezing (like it does here on occasion), then you just run the pump overnight to prevent the water from freezing in your pipes/equipment.

EDIT: Although I see you have a small pool. So you could just drain it and take it down and set it back up in the spring.
