drain in the center of an above ground cover..

Trying to think of ways to deal with the water that may collect in the winter cover of my 15 x 30 AGP.

does anyone thing that putting a hole in the center, attaching a hose to the hole somehow and running the hose over the edge of the pool would work?

I think that if it freezes it will stay frozen longer than the water on top. A cover pump is the normal way people handle this situation.

There are covers that have a drain in the center and the drain hose is routed out the return fitting when it's disconnected. The drain hose has to be below the center og the cover for it to work.
