After 30 years it was time to get some new plaster. Start to finish it took the contractor about a week and a half. Sorry I dont have any photos of the work being done as I was at work myself and couldnt get away to take them.
really bad spots

Thanks! Glad it done and ready for next spring. Ill probably have to put it to bed in the next month and with the waiting period to swim and cooler temps we wont get to enjoy it this year.

My biggest unknown is how low I will be able to lower the water for winter. going just below the skimmer will expose a few inches of plaster all around. That wouldnt be a problem would it? We typically try and get it closed up by Oct 15 because that is easy to remember and even though our first frost/freeze isnt until november it can happen in Oct. For the past 30 years the pool had been lowered below the returns all winter and I plan to blow and plug all the lines and hopefully leave it a bit fuller to save the water bill in spring.

well here it is after a winter sleep. this was shortly after removing the cover. Not too bad. We did have and issue with the deck. there are spots where the new layer separated from the base. Going to call the contractor and see about fixing it. I re-plumbed the suction side at the pad. Added new ball valves and unions. The old gate valves leaked air terribly. replaced the auto vacuum hose. It was leaking air too. I still have 2 returns that have no flow. I guess Ill get a plumber out with a camera or snake and see if we can get that fixed. Im pretty sure there is a plug in the line or heck maybe even some roots. Im not loosing water so I dont think the line is broken. Other than all that and a couple of small drips around the multiport valve Im just waiting for the temp to come up.

I like your deck color. I am waiting for contractors to show up to re surface mine and patch up the deck. We are then hoping to be able to kind of glaze the deck, but if that doesn't work, I will be looking into resurfacing it with something about the color that you picked. It is nice to see it on another pool. Mine is a cantilever, too!

thanks!! it seems the local waterfowl have taken a liking to it as well. A pair of mallards think its their pool now. About 2 blocks north there is a decent sized pond between a few houses that at any given time has 30-40 geese and a handful of ducks. those peoples yards are full of poop. I guess these ducks like my clean "pond" better. LOL
