    Why replaster

Are swimming pools plaster is beginning to deteriorate. Initially contributed to a chronic algae problem with that is under control now. What risks do we run By delaying the replastering? I would rather not invest $5000 now. There are no cracks in the pool.
In ground, chlorine, 25,000 gals, plaster, cartridge filters, 280 Polaris.

    Welcome to TFP!!!

The risk is embarrassment about having a bad plaster job jk

The failing plaster does give local areas where it is easier for algae to start growing. But, if you maintain adequate FC (based on your CYA level ... have you read Pool School?) and brush regularly, there is nothing wrong with old plaster besides aesthetics.

    Re: Why replaster

Exactly. My pool needs to be replastered, but other things keep getting in the way. Keep a close eye on any rough areas, they tend to be magnets for black algae even at proper FC. My robot doesn't seem to brush hard enough to prevent the black algae either, so a wire brush is your friend.
