would a sand filter/ SWG combo be overkill?

    Hi,

Would a sand filter/ SWG combo like this:
    http://www.amazon.com/Intex-56677EG-Fil ... d_sbs_lg_5
    or this:
    http://www.amazon.com/Intex-Krystal-Fil ... roduct_top

be way overkill for a 1000 gallon plastic stock tank kiddy pool?

I'm looking for minimal maintenance here and am willing to over do it if it makes things easier.

    Thanks!
    Erin

imo, yes. I would just follow something similar to this: http://www.troublefreepool.com/pool-...ary_pool_guide

By the way, I strongly recommend against getting the combo swg/pump/filter units. The swg and pump never fail at the same time.

The SLAM process is not finished until: 1. CC < 0.5 ppm, 2. An OCLT < 1.0 ppm and, 3. The water is crystal clear.

270 bucks isnt that expensive imo. I think it would be a neat project.

Hi, if this is for the pool listed in your signature it should be fine.

Sorry about my mistake above (which I have now corrected)...if it wasn't clear, I strongly recommend against getting the swg/pump/filter all in one, since the swg and the pump will never fail at the same time.

Thanks for the replies... It would be for a 1000 gallon polyethylene stock tank... slightly smaller then the intex pool I have now...
good to know about combined units.
