Ok...I tried searching and found lots of conflicting info, so figured I would start fresh.
NEW - my system on HI ran at about 10 PSI. When it got to 12 PSI I would backwash.
Within 30 seconds or so the water ran clear, so I let it go a bit longer, then did a rinse for maybe 30 more seconds and called it a day.
In doing that a few times, I've noticed that now my pressure STARTS at 11 PSI, then 12 PSI when "clean". I've basically done the same routine - meaning after 30 seconds the site glass is clear, so I let her go another 30, etc.
HOWEVER - in some posts I've seen you backwash for 5 minutes - that seems crazy long ?
Anyways...I know there is no magic, but I assume I am just not running my backwash long enough ? Or will I NEVER get back to my BRAND NEW 10 PSI and over time it will slowly creep up.
I never had a swamp, etc...so my filter has just be doing the NORMAL amount of work. Have not put DE in yet, as my water is clear (albeit still see junk at night floating).
Thanks for any advice.
