I opened my light to replace the old dried out gasket with a new gasket before I fill the pool in a couple of weeks. I was pretty surprised to see the bulb look like this. At first I thought the bulb must have melted somehow, but then began to wonder if had that extra bulge from the factory. Is this normal? Or do I need a new bulb?
My bulb shouldn't do this...... should it?

I've seen theater lighting with bulbs that had a similar bulge, designed like that for reasons lost to antiquity.
Personally, I'd replace it with a new one, why take the chance?
