In-Floor Cleaning System Repair

Hello all,

I've been having some recent problems with my in-floor cleaning system. I have a general understanding of how they work, but I'm no expert by any means. That said, I noticed that when my in-floor system turns on, all of them are up at the same time. It's a 6-valve system, so from what I understand, only some of the pop-ups should be up at any given time. There are two issues with all the popups being up at once: First, not enough pressure is going to each popup, making their cleaning power extend no more than a couple feet from the head. Second, because the stations are not revolving, the heads are not allowed to change direction.

I have a feeling this has to do with the "gearbox" that feeds the six stations. I opened it up and noticed that it's over 5 years old and very worn out. I'd like to try and replace this part, but I have no idea where to look for the best deal. I called a pool company, and they wanted over $300 for the part! It's an integral part of the system, but I have a hard time believing a piece of plastic with a couple springs could cost that much...

Do you guys have any recommendations on where to find this part for cheap? Also, if you have any other thoughts as what might be my problem, please feel free to share.

Thanks in advance!

Doesn't surprise me at all, though I'm quite certain the part doesn't cost them nearly that much.

I'm sure you can get better pricing on the net. Here's a couple of places to get you started...
