Heating a spa

Hi there -
Quick question. I have built in spa on the side of my pool. What is the most efficient way to heat just the water in the spa in terms of valve openings.

Right now I have Suction set at 50% main drain, 50% skimmer. The Return is set to 50% Pool, 50% Spa.

I dont want the spa heated all the time, just when i have parties on the weekend. Should i set the return to 100% spa with the heat on in that case?

To just heat the spa you want 100% suctions and returns to the spa and zero to the pool.

Do you have another valve besides the one you mentioned on the suction side? That sounds like one to balance the floor and skimmer suction lines in the pool ... should be another valve.

Add a picture of the plumbing setup if you are unclear.
