Not sure this qualifies for The Deep End... but it occurs in the deep end so...

Tomorrow gonna vac the pool but today brushed it. Nothing came off the walls but a fine wispy gray cloud appeared momentarily when brushing the bottom.

First
is this dirt or live algae or dead algae or all three or none of the above?

Second
is it more effective to brush this stuff up and let it pass thru the deep drain and fllter out or more effective to vac this stuff up?

thank you

Both questions are impossible to answer definitively.

However, if the color is truly gray, that is usually not indicative of algae....your complete test results might suggest otherwise.

Vacuuming is probably a bit better but brushing the debris into the main drain might prove just as effective....hard to say.
