The closest place I can buy pool supplies only sells Summer Escapes and Intex a/c filter cartridges. Does one work better over the other, or are they about the same?
It's well worth ordering a Unicel replacement filter like this one http://www.amazon.com/Unicel-C-4607-Rep ... B000BNPRC2. One of my pumps uses the "B" version that I have replaced with a Unicel and when I need another for the "A" pump I will definitely be going with a Unicel filter for it too
I can't say on the longevity of them as I've only had one for a few weeks. From what I've read they do last a lot longer and it does seem to be a little more sturdy. When I wash it off there seems to be much more fine dirt come out of the Unicel as compared to cleaning the original Intex filter so I can only assume it is doing a better job of filtering.
Yes, they filter much finer particles, and last a very long time if you take care of them. I've got three that are on their second season. Instructions for cleaning come in every genuine Unicel filter package, inside the shrink wrap on the filter itself.
