My filter, the Hayward X-Stream CCX1500 RE has been making a noise that sounds like a cavitation noise. It is a cartridge filter. This started last week after I took the cartridge, cleaned it and reinstalled it. The cartridge is about a year old. Any idea what is causing the noise? Could it be that some of the paper pleats are torn and I need a new cartridge?

The best thing to do is take it apart and inspect it. Look for anything lose or broken.

I have done that. I took it, hosed out the inside, wiped down the rings and threads, and then put it back together and still get the noise. I also have been noticing that it is getting more difficult to lock down and seal the filter unit after putting the cartidge back in so it doesn't leak.
Are you using pool lube on the seal when you're putting it back together?

No, I have not been using pool lube. There has been no air bubbles in either the basket or outlet. Where does one get pool lube?
