I have pump set to split time- 4 hours in the morning and 4 hours in the evening to keep up with all the bugs and tree debris that gets in the water. I installed a nano + on Sunday and I've been reading that it's best to run the pump during the daytime when the sun is on the pool. Should I switch to 8 hours on (9-5)?

No need to change anything about your runtimes as long as it's enough in total to keep the pool chlorinated properly.
