inline filter, pentair vs hayward

Guys,

My pool currently has one of these http://www.amazon.com/Pentair-R211084-C ... ool+filter and I wanted to get a new filter as this one is quite old. Looking on amazon I see there is a unit from hayward that gets better reviews http://www.amazon.com/W530-Capacity-Lea ... ool+filter

Question is, are the hose diameters and couplings same between the two?

I've used both, and I prefer the Hayward version as well. It's more solidly build and has a more positive, reliable seal. As already posted, they fit the same diameter pipe, but if memory serves, the Pentair has male pipe connections at both ends and uses an adapter to change one side to female, whereas the Hayward has a male at one end and a female at the other. This makes it possible to hook the Pentair up backwards if you aren't paying attention, which is something that can't happen with the Hayward.
