Back in December 2011, I bought a REO property at Moreno Valley, California. This was originally owned by a bank after foreclosure. Based on my investigation and had found out the previous owner had neglected basic house keeping around the house, especially the pool for around 20 years since they brought brand new. Pool was monstrously green and I had to drain half way down and fill. Apply shock treatment via BBB method. Now, pool is well balanced with BBB and little bit of stablized chlorine tablets from time to time to ensure its in 30 to 40 CYA
As you can see in pictures I linked to this thread, the pool plaster surface is now completely delaminated, along with broken waterline tiles. Cracks in concrete wall between spa and pool.
I am considering of hiring a contractor specializing in peppletec installations, but before doing that. I would like to minimize cost in pool renovation by doing preparation work by myself. Work will commence after summer ends and before winter starts ensuring not to go over 85F, preventing from concrete walls expanding and shrinking due to heat
Removing waterline tiles
chipping away plaster and removal to tip
Repairing (loose concrete), cleaning(acid wash) and filling concrete cracks(epoxy resin)
Acid wash Shotcrete walls. I have a 4,000PSI gas powered water cleaner, would this work?
Apply new waterline tiles
Pool contractor would do in the following
Replacing broken spa jets with new ones.
Fix, repair and possibly replace pool lights (these aren't working, electrically)
Install Weir flap for pool skimmer
Apply Peppletec
What I would like to know from experts in this forum. What processes, resources needed, tools and chemicals can I use to do the work by myself.
Lastly, any Peppletec contractor in Riverside County do you recommend? I would love to reach out to them and obtain quotes.
