Thread: New East Texas Pool Build

    New East Texas Pool Build

We are in the process of building a new pool in East Texas. We have been attempting to start pool construction since October of last year, but have had extensive delays from soil testing, engineering, etc. But we are now under construction. Our home backs up to a small lake. Our backyard has a pretty good slope to it and we have had to have the pool engineered with multiple retaining walls. I think there are at least three. I joined this site several weeks ago and have been through Pool School and have begun to look at the pool equipment that we will want versus what the pool builder has planned. The first thing I noticed was that the pool builder was suggesting that we use a Nature 2 mineral/chlorine infuser. I have seen all the bad reviews on this site and have yet to find one single positive review. So I am dealing with that issue with the pool builder at the moment. The builder is out of town, but I have asked for a meeting so that I can tell him that we will not be using the Nature 2.

This is our conceptual drawing or I guess the roadmap for the journey ahead-

    Welcome to the forum.

That is a very wise decision....you will never look back.

Puts more beer money back in the kitty, too!

Have you decided how you are going to chlorinate your pool?

Leaning towards Intellichem with 2 dosing pumps.

I found some pictures of our backyard as it appeared when we were looking at the house to buy it.

This picture shows the slope of the backyard

This is a picture of our backyard after we added a fence-

We have had a few issues already. Like maybe we missed or hit a sprinkler line?

I want the Intellitouch system, I would probably settle for the Easytouch system, but I wonder if I really need anything more than the Intellichem. I love the idea of the automation because I am a gadget guy. Any thoughts?

    Welcome to TFP!!!

That is going to be a great view from the pool

So is that an infinity edge with an area large enough below to actually get into?

Yes, it is an infinity edge. The spill way will be big enough for the kids to play in it.

Looks awesome. We have a similar build with a sloped back yard to water. We had extensive engineering but didn't have a soil test. They drilled piers to set the pool on based on engineereing specs. I don't see any for your build unless I just can't see them. Good luck, it will really work your patience and nerves.

I think it will try our patience too. The piers have to set for 21 days after they are set. Yikes!
