    CYA: calulated vs. measured

At the beginning of the season, just after opening, my CYA measured at zero. I calculated I need about 12 lBs of CYA to get my 25000 gals up to 60 ppm CYA. I am still reading about 30-40 with my K-2006 and Color Q tests. Should I add more or just let it be?

    Thanks!

I thought I read that CYA can be higher with SWG?

When did you add it? It can take a full week to completely dissolve and register....

I added it about a month ago. I was headed for 80 ppm but I thought I would shoot for 60 ppm first so I could sneak up on it. All other numbers are good so I'm not sure why it's so low, didn't clean out the carts after adding.

    Triple,

Do you have a diving end in your pool? (i.e. is your gallonage correct?)

Yes, my deep end is about 9 feet. I got my gallon numbers when the pool was built last year from the water company that filled it. I guess they could have been wrong and I have more water than I thought.

Maybe I'll just add a bit more and see where I end up since I need more than the 60 ppm I was shooting for.

Yeah, you've got 30-33k. CYA issue solved.
