    intex 1600 sand filter pump

    just bought 20 x 52 ultra frame pool with pump.im not using the new pool yet im just using the pump on my 18 x 48 intex.i have pump hooked up but it seem to barely be pumping theres also not much suction going into pump.is there something i did wrong maybe?

    Just filled on 06/28 YIKES!

    When you first hooked it up how was the flow?

    Have you backwashed it?

    What did you use for sand? Did you do a long backwash after adding the sand?
    TFP Expert who uses Pool School and my TF100 test kit along with PoolMath for my: Round 11K gallon AGP with deep end, 20" sand filter, Matrix 1hp 2spd, 6 2ftX20ft solar panels (and solar cover!), Intex SWCG (copper bars disconnected) and a Rubadub hot tub (chlorine). The SLAM process is not finished until: 1. CC < 0.5 ppm, 2. An OCLT < 1.0 ppm and, 3. The water is crystal clear.

    I have the silica sand. I didn't back wash it very long at all.IM new to pools. and the flows is the exact same from when I started it

    The silica sand...was it labeled as pool sand?

    Do you have air in the pump basket cover? That would indicate a leak on the suction side of the plumbing (plumbing from pool to pump) and can reduce flow rate?

    Maybe post a picture of your setup.
