Please help with shock and calcium product questions

Is there a shelf life for shock and calcium? I'm thinking of using a calcium hypochlorite shock from 2010. Is "hth Super Sock It shock and swim" an adequate product to use, until I finish what I have?

Provided you don't already have high Calcium levels, it will work. http://www.poolcalculator.com/ can give you the dose- just select the strength of the Cal-hypo from the dropdown menu for source.

As long as the stuff has been kept dry, it should still be good.

Dry and not too hot. The chlorine can break down slowly over time if it is stored in the sun or in a hot shed for years. It won't hurt the pool if that has happened, it will still add calcium, and simply not add as much chlorine as you are expecting.
