Solar covers when to use

What is the consensus on solar covers. Obviously they are used at night if air temp is less than water temp. For a blue solar cover is it best to leave it on or off on a sunny day with 10mph winds. Pool temp is 77 air temp is forecast 85. Just trying to get warmer until i get the solar panels installed.

You will read varying opinions but the majority say you gain more heat with the cover off as long as the sun is shining on it and it isn't crazy windy.
