Ugh!!! Brand new Hayward pump on an above ground 24 ft round...brand new sand in filter, all connections are sound but it has NEVER primed!! Filled the pump with h2o from the start and it worked for about 5 minutes then since then water in pump housing is only halfway, blows bubbles into the pool, cant create enough suction to vacuum so its getting green...hoses were replaced last year, and not leaking water, could that be the cause? Ready to close the Dang thing for the summer! HELP

Welcome to tfp, penzakzoo

What you described is classic symptoms of air getting into the suction side plumbing. First things to check are, stuck skimmer weirs, low pool water level causing air to be sucked in a skimmer, leaking pump basket gasket (relube to fix), a partially closed valve on skimmer line, and/or a leaking pump basket drain plug. After that a leak at a joint in the suction side plumbing would be next to look for.

I actually changed the hose from skimmer to pump and it's working beautifully so there must have been a leak there. Now it's green so I'll need to vacuum it for a day or two, there's also sand from the filter in the pool( from previous problem) is it safe to vacuum the sand up??
