CYA question

I understand that it takes about a week for added CYA to be measurable with the test kit. What I am wondering is how long does it take for it to work as an effective stabilizer? This is my first week/first pool and I'm just trying to understand the chemical balance and get a feel for how much chlorine to expect to use in a day.

Most folks lose between 2 ppm and 4ppm daily. Your mileage may vary as they say.

You can assume the CYA is present and more or less working as intended after 24 hours.
