Can't get impeller off of Pentair Whisperflo pump

Attempting to repair our Whisperflo pump. We have removed the screw that holds the impeller on, but the impeller itself will not screw off. It just spins without making any progress to come off. Any suggestions or are we going to have to cut it off? Thanks!

Are you preventing the shaft from turning?

We were and it still just turned freely without making any progress in coming off. My husband is cutting it off now because we couldn't see any other way to remove it.

Probably stripped threads. Just be careful not to cut into the shaft threads.
