ok my pool is just about ready. my cya is well below 30. 30 is the lowest the test goes. i know i need to add some though bc my chlorine burns off way too fast. well i read in pool school to add cya in a sock thru the skimmer. but read elsewhere to put the sock in front of the return. which is best?

I am preferential to putting in front of the return, since if you have to clean your filter (especially when you are clearing a pool), then you will not lose cya.
A sock in the skimmer is fine as long as the pump runs full time, and it does not clog (get sucked down) the pipe. Hanging in front of the return so it does not touch the edge is probably a bit safer for most people, but may dissolve a little slower.
ah that makes sense. i am changing my filter on almost a daily basis right now. we had lots of rust in the water from our well and until we get most of it out we change our filter often. thanks for the help!
