I couldnt agree more! I read TFP for years before even getting my pool installed. When I installed I filled, added bleach and CYA and that was it. I slowly migrated off of adding bleach and turned on the SWCG. My pool has been up and running for only a few weeks but it is so crystal clear people are shocked when they see it. My excavator stopped by to see how my DIY went, he had a pool installed by the local pool company and has it maintained by them. He was astounded at the clarity of my pool and thought it had to be the SWCG. I explained bleach or SWCG, doesnt matter its all the same and that he should read TFP and get rid of the local pool store.

Just to give an idea how clear the pool is, here is a pic. You can almost see the MD screw heads in the deepened!

Love it! Your pool is georgous! My CYA was up from using pool store supplies and I am bit by bit bringing it into recommended levels. We are having a lot of rain every day so I am vacuuming silt that washes in every other day so water replacement is occuring on a regular basis. did the 1/3 change because it was so far away from the recommended 30-50ppm. For those of you who don't know, Home Depot sells 5.25% unscented Bleach in the pool supply section for $1.79 gallon. If you are a military dependent, you get an extra 10% off.

Shallow end then deep end the view from diving board. I am hoping deep end will get clearer as I balance cya and chlorine?

After you get all the chemicals balanced, try adding just a little cellulose fiber or DE to your sand filter. Just put a little in the skimmer. Only enough to raise the pressure by about a pound. Watch how much clearer the water gets. You will have to back wash a bit sooner but that's because it's filtering more efficiently.
