noodle question

I've been finding a LOT of fine, white flecks floating around the pool. I"m pretty sure they're coming from our noodles, which we keep outside of the pool, under the steps. How long do these styrofoam beauties last? Should they be replaced yearly?

They do tend to start shredding after a year or two. I've taken to replacing them every other year, but others replace them both more and less often.

We always forget to put them away for winter. They get green and slimy every spring and end up in the trash.

Ours only last a year, but everyone always leaves them out on the sun. Wife just bought some at Walgreens for $0.74 on sale ... nicer than the ones at the dollar store

You know they're due for replacement when they start crumbling. When they're overdue, you can bend them and they'll snap...which makes it easier to fit them in the garbage can.
