Foam Padding question

I will be receiving a 18x33x54 agp. The ground is prepped and I have decided to use foam. So far, all I have seen are videos and read info on installing pool. In the video after leveling buttresses, there is a strap that runs across from each other. That don't seem to be a problem. But they also layout some pressure plates. Am I supposed to lay the foam right on top of that, if so, won't that cause a bulge on the liner floor? Does the foam need to be cut to fit exactly in the circle or oval in this case ,or does it extend way past everything?

Not sure on the oval but on circle pool the foam is placed inside of the walls then a foam cove on top of that then the liner, basically what it does is replace the 1 1/2 sand base that is used under the liner
