Ok so we have a pro-series above ground 20'x48"... we have been using the pump and filter system that came with the pool...but we are thinking about switching to a salt water system because the cost for all the chemicals is getting bad. I can't find any information on if there is even a salt water pump available for this model does anyone have any advise and can point us in the direction of a good cheap saltwater system that is compatible. Thank you

Lili,
The cost for ALL THE CHEMICALS is getting bad because your pool may be being maintained the Pool Store way. That is, one chemical to fix this, another chemical to fix that, a third to fix what the first two caused. It never ends, and the Pool Store gets rich as you go round and round and round, trying your best.

Please, read Pool School (big white link button at upper right).
There's a ton of info, and it takes several readings to understand and assimilate, but it will save your wallet and keep your pool safe and sparkling. That's the basis of this forum.

As Duraleigh stated, the Salt system produces chlorine, essentially similar to pool store chlorine or most grocery store bleach.
All are the same, only in different concentrations.
The Salt systems are rather costly up front, but are very convenient, as you don't have to go to a store for chlorine/bleach and lug the jugs around.

The pool store will often sell you chlorinator pucks, which chlorinate well, but include other products that are not always desirable in your pool. So, the chemistry gets off-balance all too soon. And you end up chasing your tail.

So . . . Welcome!

If you're willing to be a little patient, you'll learn how to take control of your pool, with knowledge and confidence, and use less chemicals, and save a lot of money.

Read Pool School.

Once the info is learned, it's pretty easy to do and very inexpensive.

There are over 50,000 members on TPF who are all doing this, with no financial profit in sight, only perfect pools.
The pool stores can't say that! Remember, their objective is to get you to spend money.

Just like you, we've all been there. Now we are here, for you.

Again, Welcome!
