Hey trying to clean my swamp up, but here in North Carolina we have had rain rain and more rain. All that being said my pump gets a lot loud so I turn it off and when I do it almost acts like it is going in reverse and pushing water back toward the pool. Instead of shutting down is this normal as I have not notced before???

Have you released the air from your filter?
Do you see bubbles in your returns?
How is the water level in your pump strainer basket?

Not released air from filter but dont have bubbles and the water level was ok but as I said rain rain and more rain means Mark needs to backwash!!!
Suspect a misbehaving valve on your suction side. Check that you don't have any unusual blockages coming to your pump.
If your strainer is completely full of water, that might rule out suction side air leak. Cavitation doesn't usually send bubbles downstream, but that is possible with high enough vacuum into the pump, but only under extreme conditions. At least that is what my hydraulics teacher claimed (too many years ago, in oil systems).
Anyway, it is worth checking out.
