I added a new pool heater a distance from the pool equipment and now the pressure has dropped. The new heater is 20' away with 2 - 90 degree turns. I have a 1 hp pump now and am thinking I will have to increase it but to what?

Adding a heater adds head loss, which means the pressure at the filter should go up. If the pressure has dropped, then something else had to change besides the addition of a heater.
Went out and bought a new 2hp pump and as I was remove the old one thought I would double check in the impeller and sure enough ir was clogged with pine needles. Once I removed them and re-hooked up the pump all is good
