Does the chlorine only cylinder in the TF-100 kit get cloudy because undissolved powder scratching the surface or it it being chemically etched? (Note - I do use the SpeedStir)

Most commonly, it's because the R-0870 powder leaves a dark stain. It's harmless enough but a 2:1 solution of muriatic acid and water will remove it quickly. Soaked in vinegar might remove it overnight (or sooner) but I have never tried that.
