Hi Guys - thanks for your assistance.

To make a long story short:

Converted to salt - 11K Gallon - using SwimPure TC-9 Cell for 25K Gallon. Installation went well.
Was told to dump 10 40lb bags in pool to get started - 480 ppm per bag - at the time time - they thought my pool was 15K Gallon - measurements were off.
Too much salt in pool due to incorrect sizing of pool - 5500 ppm as per SwimPure instant salinity display
Called GoldLine support - told to drain and keep cell off until ppm is around 2700 to 3200
High Salt Indicator - DID NOT GO ON - no clear answer as to why from pool store or GoldLine support.
Drained and refilled - salt numbers on display went from 5500 to 4200 thus far
Brought water into pool store - Salt PPM is 3900 - still need to drain and refill a bit more.
Pool guy 1 in store says drain another 3 feet
Pool Guy 2 in same store says drain 1.6 feet

Now confused

Called Goldline support they started don't use / trust the numbers on the computer.

So I ask - what your advice is and experience?

Also, why would Hayward sell very expensive SWG devices (control unit / cell) that report incorrect salt results in order to maintain a salt system?

Our first advice would have been to test the salt content before adding any and our second piece would be to add less than you think you need.

Now you're stuck with draining and refilling.

Most swgs don't measure the salt content directly, they extrapolate it from the conductivity and cell amps. that's why it's not right sometimes.
