Hard plumbing a Doughboy AGP

I thinking about converting from the cheapo hoses to schecule 40 pvc. At first glance the fitting on the bottom of my skimmer and the fitting on the return, are set up to have a hose clamped on them. Is this also the right size for pvc, or do I need to come up with some different fittings? I'm pretty sure the "hose barb" on the bottom of the skimmer is molded in.....?

They are an odd ball size. They have the adapters from their size to 1.5" PVC. They run about 7.00 each. Some have used the rubber reducers found in the plumbing section of hardware stores.
