Aluminum works fairly well with swimming pools in the short run. Longer term it tends to suffer corrosion. Things that are not left in the water are fine. For example aluminum poles for pool brushes work well. But aluminum pool ladders can have problems over the longer term. If you do have something aluminum in constant contact with the water you want to use a sacrificial anode connected to the bonding system.
