Probably 3-4 times daily, I read from newbies that baking soda will raise their pH. For our purposes, it will not.

Baking soda is the perfect product for increasing TA without any real effect on pH.

Let's quash this "urban legend" before it gets a foot hold.

Both pool stores I use to go to would sell me a several pounds of "pH Reducer" as they tried to sell me a bunch of "Alkalinity Increaser" to counteract "the pH increase that it would cause". At least I knew that "Alkalinity Increaser" was just baking soda that I got at Sam's Club a lot cheaper, but I did fall for the pH Reducer bit. And then the next weekend they would sell me "pH Increaser" to lower my pH that got too low. I finally figured that one out, though.

I've been "Pool Stored" more times than you can imagine. :(
