Just had to share a funny rookie move I made today. Pool pretty much perfect, but tweaking the CYA from 60-70. I thought Id be really smart and split it up this time between two socks in front of the two returns in order to more quickly dissolve the CYA.
Took a pair of hose and poured 1/2 in each, then left them in front of my two returns for an hour. I was shocked when one of my hose was already empty! Wow, I thought, that return must really jet out water at a much higher rate than the other. My mind was racing with plumbing scenarios that made the physics of that work.....
On closer inspection, of course, you guessed it, that hose had a run in it. So much for my "faster" dissolution rate and high speed jet. It was just about half in granular form on the bottom, which I now have to stir in.
Lesson: chose your sock wisely. Also, I hear patience is a virtue
