vacation help?

I'm going to be gone for 7-8 days on vacation. My pool chemistry is fine.

My questions is....should I add some shock before I leave? Also, I have to turn my skimmers off and only have my main drain open while the filter is on because my water level is going to drop before I get back. There doesn't look like a chance of rain while 'm gone. Is this okay?

Is your SWG in good working order? You can add a little insurance by bringing the pool to shock level with liquid chlorine, or if the CYA is a little low you can put 3-4 tablets in a floater and pull them out when you get home.

Only problem with using just the main drain is you may have a mess to skim out when you get back, but that shouldn't be any big deal.
