Just got a new bottle of Taylor phenol red. 5 drops turns any water sample blood red. What is the proper number of drops to add to a Taylor comparator that came with a DPD test kit.

I have a year old HtH kit, and 3 drops of Taylor gives a similar reading to 5 drops of HtH.

Check the number on the bottle. There are two different Taylor pH test reagents.

Is your kit a TF100 or a K-2006? Or are you using Taylor reagents in an HTH kit? They're not all interchangeable.

My pH test is from a Taylor basic pool care DPD test kit. I don't see a number on the package.

R-0004 is for use with the 2000 series test block, while the Residential Basic DPD kit is from the 1000 series. The 2000 series test blocks hold about three times as much water as the 1000 series, so try using one or two drops instead of 5 drops.
