New Pool: Need Startup Confirmation

Hello All,

I've never owned a pool before, but I do now! Putting finishing touches on my site leveling, should start assembling pool in the next day or so. I have an Intex 16'x48", sand filter pump, and SWG (details in signature).

I measured my fill water (with my new TFT-100). Results:

pH: 7.2
FC: 0
CC: 0.5
TA: 30
CH: 30
CYA: 0

I plan to follow this for setup: http://www.troublefreepool.com/pool-school/temporary_pool_guide

The Pool Calculator says:
3.6oz dichlor
8.4ox Borax
47oz baking soda
15ox calcium chloride (really necessary?)
47oz stabilizer (needed if I'm adding dichlor?)
209lb salt

Am I interpreting this correctly? What order to add chemicals (& wait time between)?

Warmer weather...kids are starting to lose patience!

Thanks!

I would skip the dichlor, and baking soda and calcium chloride for now.

1. Adjust pH up to 7.5 with borax...your TA will come up, too.

2. Put enough CYA in your pool to get to 40 ppm

3. Put enough bleach in your pool to get to 4 ppm

4. Put in the salt

All that can be done one right after another......give it 30 minutes in between to circulate.

Retest only FC and pH and TA...CYA won't show on a test but assume it's in there.

Go swimming!

Is this municipal water or well water? If it's a well, did you have it tested for iron?
