Walmart has hth brand stabilizer, and that is fine to use. I'm sure Lowes also has some type of stabilizer.
Your pool is 26,000 gallons. That pool would require 700 or 800 pounds of salt to reach 3400 ppm. You said you added a "couple of bags" and are at 2600. Am I missing something? Was there salt added prior to your couple of bags?
Never mind. Just noticed you've had the pool for 2 years. You need to add 180 pound of salt to go from 2600 to 3400
