    White film on pool

After shock my pool the shock becomes a white film on top of the pool within five minutes or so. I recently brought a sample to Leslie's pool where they said my chemical levels were good other than my total chlorine being more than my free chlorine even though I shocked my pool the night before and left the filter running. My pool is slightly green and very cloudy, hardly being able to see the shallow end's bottom. Any help?

    Welcome to TFP!

You need a good test kit in order to get anything done. Please go to and get a TF-100 (preferred) or a Taylor K-2006.

We need test results for the following values: FC, CC, pH, TA, CH, CYA, and salt if you have a salt pool.
