So today I found myself home alone and decided to go for a swim. It was my first swim without the kids. After relaxing for awhile I decided to grab some goggles, the snorkel and my pool brush. I went to town and ended up with a pile of sand on the floor of deep end. We have a lot of sand in our soil and the winds were blowing today. Anyway, I had between 2 and 3 cups of sand piled up. If I vacuum this up and continue down this road through the summer will I add too much sand to the sand filter or will it backwash itself out? Thanks, Ryan

Some of it wont flush out , but the small stuff will. How big is your filter? On my 20" sand filter I would add about 1 inch to my sand if I did what you did (3 cups) about 8 times..and most likely not all of it would stay in the filter when backwashing.
