I stumbled upon a silicon oil filled stainless steel water pressure gauge for pools .. after that i found a 'Digital pressure switch for water systems .. would that be something that I could use on my DE filter to automatically shut my pump off when it reaches a certain pressure reading? or is that for something else?

You could certainly use a pressure switch to shut the pump off, but the switch alone won't be able to cut power to a pool pump. Normally such a switch would signal other electronics that would disable or enable the pump.
