Hi All,

Please firstly excuse my terminology, I'm no expert!

Is it normal for the handle on top of my sand filter which has around 8 settings to release water from the backwash outlet even when simply being depressed / turned?

Thanks
Daz

Vacuum slower ... at least that is what I have read here (I do not vacuum).

You are aware that you should never need to add algaecide and that the Shocking Your Pool is a PROCESS and not a one time addition of some product called "shock"

Post up a full set of test results if you would like suggestions.

Well our opinions are certainly different than the guy looking to make a sale.

Many algaecides will only hurt your wallet. But some add copper to the water which we NEVER recommend as it can result in staining and green hair.

Everyone you ask would have a slightly differing opinion I guess. Does the algaecide do any harm?
Not on tfp. On here, the only time I can think of that it is commonly recommended is when doing an ascorbic acid treatment, or as extra insurance when winterizing (I don't use it when I winterize).
