Thru Wall Skimmer Location

Hi everybody !

I am thrilled with my new Ultra Frame and after only being open for 1 week can tell that I definitely want to install a thru wall skimmer. I have chosen the Hayward SP1091LX as many have already used this successfully. But I digress.

So where have you all located the new skimmer?

Right above the old inlet?
1 panel further away from the return?
1 panel closer to the return?

Each possibility seems to come with its own challenge or concern.

Your experience would be greatly appreciated.

Commenting so i can keep up with replies. There was a thread here that had details of the install with pics...but the pics are gone. Do you cover up the existing inlet and hookup to the wall skimmer?

I plan on just leaving the existing valve in the intake hole and installing some other valve in the new skimmer line.

you'll see a crude diagram showing how mine was placed. Not saying this is the best or only option, but is working fine for me with my equipment (which is non-intex).

Crek31 i was interested to see how u did it but pic u posted is of your test kit not skimmer can u repost and it would be so great if someone did a youtube instruction video on this process. I know i could use one to see how to do my hayward
