I work for a condominium complex which has a pool. We have a flow through chlorination system and use 4 inch sticks. My question is this. Is there a pool chemical manufaturer that makes chlorine sticks without stabilizer? My pool has been open for only a week. It was not drained at the the start of the season and while my initial CYA test, a week ago, was 70ppm, it is already approaching 100ppm. While I realize I have to dump some water to lower the CYA it seems so foolish (not to mention wasteful and expensive) to have to keep repeating this again and again throughout the season. Can anyone help me find a non-stablized chlorine stick source?

Sorry, Joe, they are not made. You either need to drain off some water from time to time to reduce your CYA or go to a liquid source of chlorine.
When I serviced pools that used sticks or pucks we back washed them for fifteen minutes twice a week to manage the cya.
